STALE TORTILLA CHIPS AND DOGS

Things that are annoying right now:

1. The woman in my class who consistently mutters things like "mmmm yes" or "mmmhmm oh" or "hmmm yeah yes" throughout class. These utterings would be appropriate if she were answering a question in an affirmative manner, or if she were participating in an informal group discussion. However, unfortunately for the rest of the class members, neither of those are the case. She makes these astonishingly loud, disruptive observations as someone else (who politely raised their hand and waited for their turn....) is speaking, and MY PATIENCE IS RUNNING THIN. I feel like saying "That's great that you agree with 100% of what people say in this class, but if you could keep that support unspoken that could be fab I think I might throw my college-ruled notebook at you the next time you open your mouth, k thanks!" Yeah, I'm the worst.

2. People that have changed, in a negative way, since college started. I kind of thought that people becoming increasingly self-centered and cliquey was something that happened in high school, but apparently I was sorely mistaken, because oh ho ho it is alive and well in college. I guess that broadcasting your superiority, and never making time for people that actually care about you is really fashionable nowadays. (So passive aggressive right now, whoops...) It kind of sucks because a lot of these people are ones that I care about and have previously valued spending time with, however, due to their new exclusive attitudes I am unable to tolerate being within 10 feet of them without wanting to hit my head against my laptop. Hard. (Now, I know that between the previous annoyance and this one, I'm seeming like a world class brat right now. I know. I'm sorry. This is all overreacting venting after a world-class awful day. So let me say this too, before you egg my house: I'm sure some people probably think the same about me-- people that used to like me probably don't anymore, because, inevitably I've changed too. As much as I like to pretend I'm infallible, I'm certainly not, I'm really deeply flawed, and I'm sure that I am listed on many people's annoyance lists too. It's also quite likely that these people who have, in my eyes, changed for the negative are going through some difficult life experiences, and trying to figure out who they are. So I should cut them slack. But it's been a rough day, so maybe I'll cut them slack tomorrow. For now, they're annoying and I wish they'd go back to the way they used to be.)

3. Stale tortilla chips. Enough said.

Things that are good right now:

1. My dogs. Every dog owner thinks that their dogs are the cutest, and I am no exception to that rule. The amount of adoration I have for these creatures is kind of absurd really, but I think there are worse things to be obsessed with, so I'm not stressed about it. They're both Scottish Terriers, one is named Angus, and the other is named Corkie. They're almost identical, but it is possible to distinguish between the two. Angus has a white soul patch on his chest and makes noises that sound suspiciously similar to a mythological creature. He also bears a strong resemblance to Toothless the Dragon and consistently sports a disheveled dog beard. Corkie has enormous ears and really buggy eyes that she's probably rolling at you. She also has an endearingly chubby tummy and is usually laying on a couch that she's not allowed on. I've included a photo below, because what else am I going to do with the 3,000 pictures of them stored in my iPhoto library? I'm sure you've really appreciated this moment of dog education. This blog puts knowledge first.

2. The Office. Although I do love my workplace, I'm referring to the famous TV series. I know, this is so 2005, why am I even blogging about this? I've recently begun rewatching the series. Ever since Erin had a passionate outburst during work one day about the episode where Dwight cuts open the first aid dummy, I've just been hooked on it, and what can I say, I just don't see the addiction ending anytime soon. Can we just talk about how adorable Jim is? I'm quite sure that John Krasinski is just as charming in real life, so anyone with connections can feel free to hook me up in that department. I think the episode in which Pam gets drunk at the Dundie awards is a definite highlight of the series. Also really anytime that Stanley is shown on camera. Win. (Remind me to post someday about how Michael Scott is basically the same person as King Henry V. Thanks in advance.)

3. Caputo's. This is the real reason for this entire post, actually. I was eating my Caputo's earlier today and it was such a heavenly experience that I felt it deserved a highlight on my super famous, really well-known, critically-acclaimed, Pulitzer Prize nominated blog. (Please tell your friends, family, coworkers, enemies about this blog. Please.) ANYWAYS, Caputo's! One of my buildings on campus has a Caputo's, and for that I am eternally grateful. It swirls with the smell of pesto and espresso. They play a medley of The Beatles, MGMT, Peter, Bjorn & John, and Modest Mouse. And, the big kahuna, they sell a pound of pasta with garlic and marinara sauce, parmesan, and meatballs for $3.95. A pound! A pound of delicious pasta! Cue the hallelujah chorus! This morning was a particularly sticky, tiresome, clunky morning. Due to yet another incident of oversleeping, I left the house wearing a wrinkly shirt and sporting greasy hair that due to its vast oil-content and newly-dyed black hue, caused me to bear a striking resemblance to Professor Severus Snape. ROUGH MORNING. Caputo's solved it. I've forever indebted.

Well that's really about it. I've got my dogs curled up nearby, I'm about to turn on the next episode of The Office, and I'm already scheming as to what delicious Caputo's concoction I'll be ordering tomorrow. Life's pretty annoying, but those annoyance are easily negated by the good things. Lucky for us, right?

(Although I'm still taking suggestions on how to deal with the stale tortilla chip epidemic. Contact via email with serious answers only. Thx.)
